Repentence with Joe "The Connecticut Kid"

Joe and I decided on Repentence today Feb 17. We arrived at the base at 8am to find another party halfway up the route. The morning was warm and sunny – we decided to wait it out as the route looked to be in fine condition. We started climbing once the second cleared the final chockstone, it was 10:30. Pretty good time for the second party of the day.

Repentence in the morning light.
Joe getting started on the steep first pitch. At times this pitch can be thin but today there was plenty of ice for good screws. Lots of fun movements off good hooks.
The crux of the second pitch could be this area climbing into the belay station. A steep area of technical moves ending up on a fine ledge high on Cathedral.

Joe contemplating the chockstone at the top of the route. No easy way around this, one needs to hand jamb, and torque the tools in the crack to exit onto the moss ledge.
It was a great day out. Very fun climbing on a warm day in New Hampshire. Thanks Joe for coming up to climb again. Good luck to Joe he is headed for Vail to check out some Colorado ice next week.
