A weekend at Lake Willoughby

February 23, 2010 § Leave a comment

I had the great pleasure of climbing with Pete again this month. I have climbed with Pete every year since I have been working with Mooney Mountain Guides, and I always look forward to his annual weekend in New England. Our adventures this time took us to Lake Willoughby in Vermont. “The Lake” is a very special place that always commands my respect and attention. I am sure Pete felt the same. We spent our weekend climbing in the Tablets area. One quickly finds themselves on very steep ice, for Willoughby’s ‘practice’ area. We enjoyed steep corners and bulges all weekend, in the excellent balmy weather, very uncharacteristic for “The Lake.” I look forward to Pete’s next trip up.
