A Good Time on Mt Hale.

March 1, 2010 § Leave a comment

Deep snow was found high on Mt Hale this past weekend. At the base we were concerned as there was only a few inches on the ground. The higher we climbed, the deeper it got. Mike joins me each year for a couple of days of skiing in the backcountry We had plans for Mt Washington but changed to Mt Hale as the avi hazard was considerable in the ravines.

Once we saw this, we knew the skiing would be awesome.
Here’s Mike ripping some turns through the Glades.
The upper glade is 500 to 600 hundred vertical feet. We skied four great runs of untracked powder, then skied the long 2000 ft run back to the return trail. It was Sunday, and I was quite surprised to have this place to ourselves.
