Springtime in the Desert.

April 1, 2010 § Leave a comment

Terry and I came to Red Rocks with hopes of warm rock climbing in the sun. Today we bundled up and went into Pine Creek Canyon. The winds were very strong bringing in cold air from the north. On the good side the rock was dry and there were only a few hearty climbers around. We climbed Birdland and then went on to a nice finger crack called Straightshooter. This was our first day on the rock since last November and it sure felt good. The weather looks better in the next few days, we hope to get on some of the longer routes in the area.

The Mescalito takes the center of the Canyon. Birdland and Straightshooter are on the black varnished wall on the right side.

Terry climbing on the second pitch of Birdland.

Great face and crack climbing on the upper part of the route.

Here we are having fun – all bundled up in the cold wind at the top.
