Scenes from Smith Rocks

May 21, 2010 § Leave a comment

Its been a cold week at Smith Rocks, the temps are in the high 40’s with some rain showers and a few snow flurries. We have been seeking out the sunny faces for the Timberline Guides rock training. Here are some of the rock faces in the central gorge.

Here is a view looking up the Crooked River toward the Morning Glory Wall.

Early morning sun on the Dihedrals, the striking overhanging arete is the 4 star Chain Reaction
The exposed and exciting route Skyline Ridge 5.8 rises out of the notch.
The Morning Glory Wall coming into the sun. The four pitch crack route Zebra to Zion 5.10a starts just left of center and follows the weakness to the top exiting where the sun and shade meet on top of the wall.
