The Cannon "Shred" Factor

June 27, 2010 § Leave a comment

Hello again, its Torin Fitton, guest blogging for Mooney Mountain Guides again. Ventured up to Cannon Mountain today to experience a little bit of New Hampshire’s finest alpine offering. The skies were threatening to a downpour at every glance upward so we elected to make our way along the base of Cannon and climb some of the classic and finest granite crack climbs in the Northeast. Now, I first climbed some of these crack climbs several years ago and donated several layers of skin to Cannon Mountain, a fact that I was continuously reminded for the week following every time that I washed my hands with an alcohol-based cleanser before I performed surgery.

Cannon Mountain is one of the finest alpine destinations in New England and has some extraordinary granite climbs. We wandered along the base today and did Slow n’Easy, Sinister Satisfaction (very stout!) and finished with Reppy’s Crack. A series of great pitches and I left a lot more skin on the back of hands today rather than the back of the cracks…….
