Stupendous Day on Whitehorse

July 2, 2010 § Leave a comment

Aubrey and I were at it again. This time we went to Whitehorse and ventured over to the South Buttress to climb at the Inferno Area. The day was absolutely stellar, we were the only party there, the temps were in the 70,s, and the routes were all dry. Aubrey started the day leading up to the base of Cold Day. We climbed Cold Day then traversed over to the Upper Inferno Cracks. This is a nice variation which bypasses the Hotter than Hell route. After the Inferno Cracks we rappelled to the mid height ledge to climb the Tranquility Pitches.

Tranquility is a hidden gem of a route. Aubrey has completed the 5.10 finger crack working towards a mid height belay before the final overlap. Both Inferno and Tranquility are great crack climbs. By days end we had climbed 6 pitches of high quality crack and face routes.
