Cardigan Ski Tour

February 3, 2011 § Leave a comment

What an awesome day of skiing at Cardigan. With 15 inches of new light & dry snow on the mountain how could the ski day be anything but great. Don and Jay joined me for the Grand Tour – a 6+ mile loop which climbs to the summit of Mt Firescrew and then descends into the south bowl. The tour continues up Mount Cardigan to the summit then we descended on one of the front four lines and skied powder all the way back to the AMC lodge. Its not often NH get conditions like this – looks like more snow Saturday evening get out this weekend conditions will be fine.

Don topping out on Mt Firescrew. Windy and scoured here, conditions improved as we dropped into the south bowl.

Jay arriving solo joined us for the tour.
Don getting the first turns of the day.
Jay fully padded and ready for action.
Ski cutting results on the lower slabs.
The uphill climb to the summit of Mt Cardigan.
Great views of New Hampshire and Vermont from the summit of Cardigan.
