It seems like late summer/early fall is often guide training season. While Art is working AMGA Rock Instructor Courses, some others are running AMGA Single Pitch Instructor courses. This past weekend I ran such a course in some of the most perfect late summer weather I have experienced in a long time. Especially during a guide training course, we are usually good for at least one day of rain. Three individuals joined me for an excellent course exploring all of the technical options that exist for an instructor to run in a single pitch setting. Additionally Massey Teel of Seneca Rocks Climbing School, joined me to observe, as part of his process of becoming an SPI Director.

The AMGA SPI Course s a 27 hour course that includes a comprehensive look at the world of climbing instruction in a single pitch setting. With an emphasis on risk mitigation, education, streamlined technical skills, it provides an individual with a wealth of knowledge to utilize in their professional climbing practice.
